Do you meditate? If you don’t, you should! It’s one of the EASIEST ways to slow down and just be. When you meditate, you give yourself an opportunity to hear what your inner guide has to say. For deep feelers, it’s even more important to practice meditation on a daily basis. Once I made a commitment to meditate everyday, things changed. I have more confidence, love, support, and guidance. And I sleep better!
Why Meditation is Important
As a highly sensitive person, you feel things on a deeper level than most people. Sometimes to a point of being overwhelmed by how much you feel. Here’s some benefits to meditating everyday!
You might be thinking…I don’t have time to meditate. That’s what I thought too…until I started! Once you develop a practice that works for you, you’ll want MORE time to meditate.
There’s More Than One Way to Meditate
It can be challenging to establish a meditation practice. But once you find the right type for you, you’ll fall in love with it. Pick at least one of these types and get started. If it doesn’t work for you, try another one. And whatever you do, don’t worry about messing up. It’s called a practice for a reason. The more you do it, the better you’ll get!
Guided Meditation
Do you have a mind that never seems to shut off? Are you new to meditation? Then guided meditation might work well for you. This is my favorite type because I am able to focus more on what the guide is saying. Yes…my mind wanders. But I quickly bring my focus back to the guide. To get started, search guided meditation on YouTube. You’ll find a BUNCH of them. Here’s one of my favorites on self-love.
Mindfulness Meditation
Only got a minute to meditate, then this one’s for you! Practice it anywhere and during any situation. You need to be fully aware of what’s happening around you. And how you’re thinking and feeling at that moment. Feeling extra sensitive? Then mindfulness meditation is your “on the spot” remedy. You’ll feel MUCH better when you let those feelings pass over you without any emotion.
Transcendental Meditation
Very popular with celebrities including Ellen Degeneres. Definitely one of my favorites! It’s takes at least 20 minutes, but the benefits are worth it. Practice transcendental meditation to achieve calm and peace! The goal is to settle down and find your inner place of relaxation. It’s like taking a vacation before you start your day.
Kundalini Yoga
Want to meditate AND practice yoga at the same time? Then Kundalini yoga is a GREAT choice! This isn’t your typical Meditation or Yoga practice! It’s a combination of both. Using breath, movement, and sound you’ll release blocked energy in your body. It’ll challenge you both physically AND mentally. And definitely worth the effort!
Do you practice meditation on a regular basis? If you do, share in the comments your favorite. If not, tell us which one you’re going to try first! Then get started. And remember, you’re not alone!
